This is my first post on here so bear with me. I'm now recording the guitar tracks for a song (very neo-psychedelic sounding) and have been struggling on with my tone. I first tracked the guitar with my Telecaster into my 71' Twin using a sm-57 and a condenser mic. I had the sm-57 in front of the cone and the condenser about 10 inches away from the amp. I don't have a good preamp, I was just running the mics into a m-audio mobile pre. It sounded ok, but was just thin sounding overall despite doubling up on each take, panning a bit, etc. I gave guitar rig a try on the track and it sounds a ton better than micing my amp. I just feel weird releasing the track knowing I used a sim on the whole thing. I know it shouldn't matter, but I love the sound of my twin, just not recorded. Is there any advice on getting a better tone or should I just stick with the amp sim considering it sounds good?

Also as a side question, I am recording my cleans on guitar rig into a bus on logic to save some cpu, but found out I cant pan the tracks because they are all being sent to one bus. Is there any way around this?

Thanks

If it sounds too thin, that most likely means you didn't EQ your amp right. Most likely too much high end & presence.
