So I got Peavey Rage 158 Amp for my guitar amp and It must of only cost about $100
canadian, so any ways I connected my amps out put to my stereo system and got clear sound (a bit more distorted) but there was
a bit of a hiss (still better quality than the amp)
Any ideas on getting better sound, or am I going to end up getting a new amp?

is this amp the little one about a ft or so high? I think that's the one you're talking about. Anyways, the guitar player for my old band had one of these and it was a horror to record. It had no power to it which for me at least always translated to a wimpy guitar sound. You're best bet would be to get a mid priced guitar amp that's very versitile for the stuff you want to play

good luck

Bigger isn't always necessarily better.
Frank Zappa used to get an interesting guitar sound from a PigNose amp (battery powered) by laying it on it's back, cranking it and suspending a mic above it (about 5 ft I think) from the ceiling.
The amp would resonate across the entire floor surface which would boost the bass frequencies tremendously.

It doesn't matter how loud an amp is. If an amp has a crappy sound on the 2 or 3 spot on the volume pot, it's not gonna sound much better on the 9 or 10 spot. Read my response to "Best mic for guitar amp?" in this section and read my response. This might help you out a bit if your looking for a better amp for only a few hundred more dollars.

I've gotten some good clean sounds from a Rage, but yes it is a horror to record
