recording from reel to reel

I am trying to record and hook up a reel to reel through my sound card (Creative SB Live Sound Card) I have 4 outlets on the back of my sound card. One Mic, One for the speakers and two others. How do I hook up from the Reel to reel (which output plug) to my computer, to hear it throuh my speakers or headphones. And what kind of outlet plugs do I need?
 
Is it a stereo reel-to-reel? Or a 4-track, or 8-track?

If the former, it probably has RCA Line Outs. You need a plug with a 1/8" stereo minijack on one end and a pair of RCA plugs on the other end. Hook the RCAs to the Line Outs on the tape deck and the minijack into the Line In of the soundcard.

Can't get sound

I hooked up like you said but I am not getting any sound and it's not recording in the program I am using. (Creative Wave Studio) and I tried playing a CD and it recorded. Any ideas?

I hooked up everything like you said but I can't get any sound and I pluged it in every plug-in in my sound card. I can't get it to record in my program (Creative Wave Studio) either. I played a CD and it recorded. Any ideas?
 
Make sure you've plugged into the line in and your SB is set to record from line in
 
once you've plugged your 1/8" plug into the SB line-in - make sure that the line in isn't muted and that the record level is turned up. You can do this via the soundblaster control panel software
 
Another Question

I have recorded the music and saved them in a WAV format in Creative Wave Studio program. Now if I want to burn them on a CD and have them play in a CD player other than the computer, will that format be ok or do I have to do something else with them? Thanks again.
 
44.1 kHz, 16-bit WAV is exactly what you want to burn audio CDs.
