Recording from Minidisc to CD-R

I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I recently got a SCSI CD-RW drive and have successfully recorded tracks from CD source to the CD-R using Adaptec Easy CD. However, I'd like to also record externally from a stereo and/or portable minidisc player. I have it hooked up OK so it plays through the computer sound card, but I need additional software to record it. I tried downloading IOMEGA RecordIt, but that converts to MPEG, which is not compatible with CD-R music format. It seems other options include Easy CD DELUXE ($80), DART CD Recorder ($30) and Data Becker recorder ($40). I'd rather not spend $80 but I'd be happy to spend $40 if it works and if comparable downloadable software is not available. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get a wav editor, record the external source to a wav file, then burn that wav file to CD as audio. Goldwave, Cooledit, etc are ones that you can at least download a working demo. Goldwave should have enough features enabled for what you want in the shareware version.
