recording from dex to a pc

Hiya from across the pond!

Ok im a dj whos aiming towards world domination, and i wanna start producing my own sample cds.

Ive got the necessary lead to connect from my mixer to the computer (Windows ME), but am unsure of what type of program to use to record it.

Can anyone show me the way to go (preferably a free program that can be d/ld?!)

(Sorry, am new to the techy side of things)
