i'm new here, been searching thru the posts... couldn't find a specific answer so i'm gonna post yet another delta1010lt question.. i've ordered a delta 1010lt, its on its way.. i'm getting ready to record drum tracks. gonna have 7 or 8 mics on the kit, xlr inputs will be needed, and i don't want to have to spend money on converters for the RCA inputs.. is it possible to record drums the way i want to do with this delta 1010lt if i get the right mixer to use with it? if so, which mixer should i get? i'm thinking of getting an alesis multimix16usb. not to sure tho. just want to make sure i get the right thing.. i may end up sending the card back.

If you're on a budget you could also do it with the cheaper MG12/4, but you'd have to use the 2 preamps on the LT as well

thanks for the info, i did some searches on here about the mg 16/4. seems like it could be something that will work out. i ordered one a little while ago. why half way on the inputs? do you know of anybody that may have some recordings posted that were done with a similar setup?

A Yamaha MG 16/4 and a snake such as this one, plugged half way (first click) into the Inserts of the channels you are using, would be a decent addition to the 1010LT.

why half way on the inputs?
You need to have an understanding of Insert I/O and it's uses. In this case you are using them as direct outputs for each channel.
Plugging in half way or to the first click will give you channel output to the 1010LT without breaking the signal through the rest of the mixer.

do you know of anybody that may have some recordings posted that were done with a similar setup?
Not off hand, but I'd be willing to bet there a quite a few people using a similar setup, some achieving excellent results.
Gear is only part of the equation for obtaining quality results.

Doing it...6 mics to my Mackie. Using the channel inserts on each channel to the Delta1010LT. Works just fine. Mackie provides 48vdc and pre to get the job done.

i hear ya.. it'd just be nice to know that if i take the time to learn that i might be able to get some decent sounding recordings done with this type of setup some day. i truly appreciate the info.

bchain, I got a Delta1010lt and a MG16/4, I think you can get decent recorded drums with this gear.

Thanks

what kinda software do you use? i'm using cool edit pro right now with my sblive card for the time being. i'm running windows xp pro, i have an amd 1.2ghz with 512mb of ram.. 2 hard drives, ones like 20 gigs and ones 80 gigs, i am probally gonna get a 120 gig when i start recording with the delta. do you think i'll be alright recording audio with this computer? for some reason i've had problems with this computer recently recording with sblive in cooledit pro. sometimes in the middle of recording one track it will freeze.. thought mabee it could be the sblive.. or mabee the smaller HD is going bad (its kinda old) i'm gonna probally re-install the entire system when i get the new HD, but wonder if i should keep XP pro, or use win2000pro?
