Recording drums into tracks

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to this scene, and I have a quick question to start me off.

I was thinking of recording drums onto my computer (in Cakewalk, but that doesn't matter). My problem is: how do I record the drums, and get the different drums (snare, bass, etc.) into separate tracks, in one go? I could use a mixer, but then the whole thing would be downmixed into one track, and I can't regulate anything later on.

Any pointer towards hardware, software or any help in general would be highly appreciated.

You need a sound card with multiple inputs. Try doing a search here as it has been covered EXTENSIVLY.
