Recording direct guitar advice

im trying to record directly into my soundcard Audfile 24/96-into NI-Guitar Rig-
Im getting some crackling-the meters are 'just' hitting the yellow.

Should I be using a DI box with a pad going into the soudcard?

DI boxes are a godsend for direct recording. If all else fails, use Amplitube.

Could this be a level mismatch? Maybe the recorder set for +4 input. If inputting -10 into that and trying to set a hot level from your guitar rig could possibly be the problem.

After checking evry possible level I found that I had not set my slave soundcard
to SPDIF slave-so it was jjjjittterrrr!
