I am going to use simply two Oktava MK012s and a Studio Projects B1 to hopefully do a decent recording of several voices, all live, from bass to soprano. I'm not sure about the dimensions of the room, but how would you recommend I set that up? There will be roughly 10 people. How far should I space the Oktavas and how high up should they be? Where should I point them? Should I place the Studio Projects B1 right in the middle? Or up high angling down? etc.

Just give me your best recommendations.

KISS ,with the oktavas use either a spaced pair of omnis (roughly a meter or so)

OR cardiods in ORTF ...cup one hand over your ear and walk around the room until you hear where the balance sits right...blocking one ear prevents the brain from doing binaural processing and skewing the reality..

the other mic I would put 50' back or so to collect ambience. with 10 people, there is no need for anything other than a stereo pair and an ambience mic.

height..for the main pair, go up about 6-8 feet.

mix the ambience mic in about 10db or so...

If you have omnis, go for those..if not do the ORTF Cards.

I do these gigs weekly, as it is my gig(location classical recordist)
