Today I started a new recording session for a 7-song cd. And boy can instruments and musicians make a difference to your mood.

The guitarist playing on Sadowski guitar / ENGL amps / TC electronics, the bassplayer using his very old Jazzbass with custombuild pre-amp. These guys were playing like they were true studiomusicians (they actually have lots and lots of experience).

This is how the day went:

09.00 rehearsing song 1
09.15 recording song 1
09.20 listening to recording, discuss what should be different
09.30 recording song 1
09.35 finished song 1
09.40 rehearsing song 2
09.55 recording song 2
10.00 listening to recording, discuss what should be different
10.10 recording song 2
10.15 finished song 2
etc etc. These guys actually didn't make 1 mistake.
Today we recording drum/bass/guitar.
Tommorow we start with keys/hammond (yes, big leslie)
We've got 7 days planned, don't know how we are going to fill all of these, but I've heard they invited even a hornsection. This is going to be yolly-fun.

Sure sounds like fun... What band is it? Something I might have heard of?

No, it's a musician who makes popmusic in a local slang. I guess it has no commercial chances nationwide, but in our province this actually could become interesting. All these guys have their roots in playing pop for profession (mostly covers or as sessionplayers). The music isn't the 2-chord type, it's actually really intelligent arranged. Songs are a littlebit arranged in a toto style of way.

he mensen!

better say the name anyway, i guess i heard of them already as you said they were recording in (not slang my friend ... dialect) dialect... saw them on L1 i believe... Zone 61 or something?

Anyway, not my thing at all, but very well produced so compliments too you!

I'm doing kindof the same thing with some friends. Silly naughty hiphop, as typical as it can ever get. But it's really a kindof slang with us, not dialect. Just all the dialects from miles around, and dutch versions of some typical english slang-type words. (vb: Al te gader, flowe, ...)

Guhlenn, you've got it wrong. i know who you are talking about. You mean mr. English (;) ), but it's not him. BTW I am the sound engineer of one other rather known local dude (Bloasmuziek), but it's not either him.

This guy is not well known yet, but.....

But you're gonna make him famous and drag us right allong with ya? If you need an assistent engineer next year, I might be looking for a weekend job. :D

yeah and if you need anyone to waste your time... I'll be there... ;)

but really, if this almost famous limburger is gonna get big real soon (I can imagine , after all dialect is the next big thing in holland... do i need to say "skik" or a neye dei or whatever...) why can't you say who it is? does he work for the CIA? will his cd be so mindblowing you cannot tell anyone cuz they would steal it (read; I would steal it...;) )

TELL US THE NAME TELL US THE NAME JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY!!!!!

well anyway i've gotten very curious so you'd better spill the word my friend:)

Guhlenn

BTW you mean ton engels? nah i mean the rap rock limbo iets band zone nog wat... anyway bloasmoezik is nit mie dink... hard to read isn't it? anyway just tell us..

Oh and I looked at your site... what is this bandcontest? i sent you an email ... be so kind to reply to guhlenn@hotmail.com or nonofus@hotmail.com...

Abort launch houston.

I am here to tell you all about my personal life and fun I have trying to run the studio. I will discuss tricks and trades with ya all. I won't mention names of paying customers, sicne I don't know if they want me to.

You can get personal with me, not my customers.

Anyway, it its going to be something, you'll find out.

Well... i knew your were gonna be like this.... always wanting to keep the best shit for themselves... damn those engineers;)

nah i just watched jerry again last nigth... big mistake as you can see... but anyone wanting to get big cannot complain about saying his (artist) NAME... right... although i can understand your Paying customers... argument I cannot think of one reason why he wouldn't like his name to get out...

anyway I do not want to know your personal life... :P

Guhlenn:D

Offcourse the artist like the exposure. I'm just not sure if they are happy with me mentioning their names on an open internetforum. In real life the word gets out, and told. That's profitable for me too.

Antway it's just a way of protecting myself from stupid mistakes. I wouldn't want to be in the situation that one day I start the recording session, and the artist asks me why the hell you're talking about him on the internet. That would be a defenite no-go.

you don't have to explain... I can understand... However i woudln't have anything against spreading the (artist) name of my band... in fact... i'm gonna do it right now !!!!

SPAM!__> non of us........

well anyway nice talking to ya, good to know that someone is actually around here..
