Recording Brass

When recording Brass, should you use a pop-shield?
I've used a pop-shield (combined with an E604 or an SM57), and there is certainly a difference.
Just wondering what the pro's do really. Like on Less than Jake's album 'Hello Rockview' or Reel Big Fish 'Why do they rock so hard?/Turn the radio off'

There is no right or wrong - if you like the sound you are getting, then you are doing the right thing.

That being said, MOST pros do not use a popper-stopper when recording brass. If you are getting "wind" artifacts, try instead either backing the mic away from the bell a little, or placing it a bit off-axis (on an angle) to the air stream.
