My apologies ahead of time for the long question, but my bassist has a vintage fender bassman 135, and in the back there is a "line/recording" output. We plan to record some new songs track by track, but will have the bassist and drummer playing together to have some cohesion and have that dynamic that comes with playing with someone, not just to some scratch tracks and a click. Would I be able to just take a 1/4" from the line out and plug it into one of the instrument inputs on my Firestudio Project? Or would I need a 1/4" to XLR and so that it's recording at line level? Again, apologies if my lingo is off a bit.
If it matters, we're recording into Ableton, and we're recording direct as opposed to micing his cab to eliminate bleed, although we may experiment with micing the cab as well and trying to isolate it away from the drum mics to blend the signals later.
