This is all over Google but really badly worded on most sites, so I'm hoping I can get better help here.
Goal: Record music from digital piano Yamaha YDP-S30. I want to mix tracks, make beautiful compositions, and eventually make amateur Youtube videos.
Notes:
- The YDP-S30 has a MIDI out and a Headphone Jack out. It has no AUX out, it has no Line out.
- I have a powerful PC with no sound card
- I plan to buy an audio interface
Recording Procedure: Connect Headphone Jack out to audio interface line-in, and connect audio interface to computer. Play around in software like Cubase and have fun.
Questions
1. Given my setup, is there a better way to record audio?
A common recording problem has something to do with different "impedance" levels (e.g. connecting a line-out to a mic-in). Does a headphone jack out connected to an audio-interface line in give superior quality? If not, how can I get superior quality? I want it to sound as professionally recorded as possible. Crackling artifacts or weird things are not acceptable.
2. Do headphone jack outputs give the same recording quality as aux outputs or line outputs?
What are the differences between the three? Please be detailed; I've looked all over Google and everybody else just posts one-sentence answers.
