Hi,

What’s the best way to tape audio cassettes to my PC?

Here’s what I usually do:
- Take the cord and put it in the ‘EAR’ jack on the cassette recorder.
- Take the other end of the cord and put it in the ‘MIC’ jack of my sound card.
- Press play on the cassette recorder.
- Press record on the audio program I’m using to record (Acid Pro 2.0)
- Wait until the recording is finished and stop the cassette recorder and audio program.

The problem here is sound, volume, distortion etc.
If the volume on my cassette recorder is too high/low then it will be recorded at a high/low volume on my PC.

Is there a better way to transport audio from a cassette to my PC?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

line in/out

1. Does your cassette player have a line out?
2. Does your soundcard have a line in?

You would be better served by using these connections instead.

Hope this helps.

Chaaaaa,

I have made some great recordings to PC from analog tape. I bought a simple
software program from Microsoft called "Plus! Digital Media Edition" it enhances your
music, photo stories, etc. By the way, I run this on Windows XP. I only paid around
$20 for it, and it works great.
All you have to do is connect a RCA 1/8" cord to back of analog cassette player
and put the other end into audio input in back of your computer (you might need
a "Y" adapter. This is what I use, because I just have one 1/8" input in back of my
Dell computer). Anyway thats it!! The software tells you what to do (like setting
record levels, eliminate hiss, etc.)
I have transferred alot of my home 4-track cassette recordings to my computer
and save them in music files. They really sound good in the digital format.
I think this will work very well for you.
