My band is getting ready to record. What would be the best equipment to rent/buy for 3 guitars, drums, keyboard, vocals and midi? I'm looking at digital, and have done some research on the tascam DA-78Hr and Alesis ADAT recorders, but haven't got any real info other than from the official web sites. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Are you looking to do a demo or a CD?
What type of music do you do?
What type of sound quality do you expect to get?
How much $$$ do you have to spend?
What type of mics do you own?
Regular or Extra Crispy?
(Sorry... got carried away just a bit)

You have to give some specifics in order to get the best possible advice. :)

Right now our band is looking to do a high quality demo. we play a mix of alternative rock with a '70s edge to it. As far as equipment is concerned, we don't have any. we are mainly looking to rent the necessary equipment and have between $2-300.
