Tonight I want to work on recording my acoustic guitar. It is a Hofner acoustic, costs about 400$. It's got a really ncie bright sound to it, but no cut out, and it is NOT electric. So I will be micing the acoustic. I have one mic, a Behringer - Ultra Voice XM 8500. Eventually i wil be getter more and bette rmics for recording this summer, but this is what I have for now. The mix is plugged into a Behringer UB502 mixer, and then im recordin straight to my computer using a program called Mixcraft. For now it is just going to be acoustic, but eventually ui will ahev vocals, bass, and maybe other insturmnets.

I was just wondering if anyone had some tricks or advice for recording and mixing acoustic guitars?

Well, as far as mic placement, place that mic about 6 inches to 1 foot away from the 12th fret of the guitar. I do this with a Behringer B-1 and my Epiphone EJ-160 and it sounds like a million bucks. Not sure what it'll sound like with your setup, but give it a try.

Try different positions with the microphone till you get the sound you want. You may start as mentioned above and go from there. Another recommended starting point is in front of the sound hole the with the distance to the mic equal to the length of the strings.

If you have the cans on get another musically minded person to shift the mic untill you shout "THAT'S IT"
