Hi
I am trying to record on to a PC with Cubase VST 5.1 and an E-mu APS card. I can record from a tape deck just fine. But when I try to record the output of my synth (a Roland XP-10) there is more noise (hissing and crackling) than music. The problem is marginally less bad if I use the inputs in the APS's breakout box rather than the ones on the card itself, but still pretty bad. The only thing I am doing differently, as against recording from tape, is that I am using audio cables with 1/4 inch audio plugs to fit the synth's audio outputs. Clearly I am doing something wrong -- but what? Many thanks for any advice.
