Recording a frettless bass?

Recording frettless bass, anything I should know...

The bassist has a Carvin 6-string and a Carvin Red Eye amp (I think), I was told it had 2 10s...

Do these amps have pre outs, should I mic it, what kind of mic...

I really have no clue...

I have had some good results micing a Fender fretless Jazz Bass with a Shure Beta 52. Since it works well for a bass drum, it also seems to work equally well for the bass.

The other option I use is a Sansamp bass driver. This allows for direct input to a channel.
