Are there any well established techniques for recording an 'ambient' type of clean guitar sound.

I'm using a Telecaster into a Vox AC4TV8, with the infinite reverb, a P.O.G. I use in conjunction with it sometimes, and a delay/looper.

For recording I have a Zoom S2t USB interface with 2 xlr inputs, an MXL R144 ribbon mic, and the MXL 440/441 mic set. And I use Audacity software, but I also have Ableton Live Lite 8.

I've wanted to use the 440 and the R144 together, with the 440 2-3 feet in front of the amp, then taking the panel off the back of the amp and placing the ribbon mic there. The only thing is, the phantom power switch is universal and I don't want to destroy my ribbon mic :(

EDIT: I've also got a SM57 too

Do you have a sample of the type of sound you're trying to achieve? I'm not quite following what it is you're after...

If you can get the kind of sound you want out of the amp, then record it. Otherwise, record the sound of the guitar, then use FX plugins. Not sure what you mean by 'infinite reverb'.
