Hi,
I am a teacher and have recorded teachings I would like to transfer from cassette to digital format. Can anyone give me any of their wisdom here, like what do I need to do this?
It is not music at all, just speaking, jsut want to get it into a format I can email or place on an audio CD.

Thanks,
Daniel

If you have a cassette deck with RCA outputs, you'll need one of these...

Connect it to the line input of your computer.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with advice on free recording software.

Yup, that's about all you need. You could upgrade your soundcard as well but for speach recorded off tape, i don't see alot of value there.

My second peice of advice. If you plan to do more and have a computer around you to make it easy on you, it might be wise to invest in a "pod casting" setup. These packages usually have a decent mic as well as everything you need to make a digital recording. And they are pretty good budget wise. I know for myself personally, i have alot of trouble when i have to listen to a professor and the soundquality is bad. It's just hard to keep my concentration, etc. Obviously if you can't have a computer close by, it isn't ideal. Just a suggestion.
