Recorders

I don't know if this is the right forum but....

I friend of mine at work wants to buy a CD Recorder for her fiance for Christmas. He does DJ stuff and wants to be able to burn his stuff onto CD's. Being new to this whole thing I don't know what to recommend. Any thoughts?

He's using Cakewalk.

If he has a CD-R drive on his computer, he can already do this. Or is there some need for a separate cd-r recorder?

He's eyeballing an Alesis Masterlink but wanted she wanted to find something more affordable...if possible.

I don't know why he needs a seperate burner. Sounds to me like it could be accomplished on his computer right now.

None of the stand alone units are 'affordable' Tascam makes some pretty good ones, but they are still several hundred dollars. I have one, but I always burn from the computer so it was a waste.
