Recorded a friends band - Mixing Help?

Sounds pretty good to me....it's sparse, but has a nice feel. If you do much, it could change that feel. Maybe try and make the vocals more up front, and see what that does....might sound good, might not. I like it as is...so experiment, and see if the vibe gets better, or worse.

I think you've got a good blend between the vocals and guitar. By that I mean the levels are good, but especially the eq's match.

The vocals have a special effect that like your previous tune, gives the mix something unique ....it's trademark.... good to have in this world...which is already full of Nickleback clone bands...

The recording is very clean/clear - what are you using for pre-amp (Grace?) and microphones on this one? I like the breathiness of this - very intimate. Pass along my compliments to the singer/songwriter for a great job...

:D :) :D :)

Thanks you guys. I am really sorry if i missed some stuff posted by you guys before the recent future. Life has kept me busy. Would love links to anything i missed if you have them handy/the time.

Dogman - Thanks a ton for the comments. I agree, he just has that vibe all the time was trying to do my best to keep it for the recording as I'm a big fan of his stuff (mostly thrash metal actually). . I'll keep playing a little but I was worried that maybe something was horribly off and i just wasn't hearing it.

Idol - Thanks so much for the nice words. I'm not sure bout any trademark sounds I may have but I certainly agree with the nickelback comment. The vox were a SM7 into a grace 101 extended gain and with the way he was whispering it was just barely enough gain. The guitar was an at4040 into the grace and a msh-2 into the soundcard preamp (rme fireface 800).

Thanks so much for the comments

take care
