Hi, I am totally lost. I would like to make a demo of my daughter singing to a cd-g. I don't want to use a cassette because of the quality so I would like to use my pc if there is a way that wouldn't break us. I found someone that could record a 6-8 song cd for us for $300.00. So I wander if that would be the best route or just download a program and buy a mic and do it that way.
Some advice would be great, thank you.

Yo SSX et.al:

Depends on how much time you have and if you want to enter the world of home recording?

There are trial programs out there that might get your CD finished.

But, if you have an anxious child, might be best to pay someone to do the CD. Make sure you check out some work this person has done first.

Merry Christmas

I too showed up here one day thinking about recording my daughters, mainly so they could hear themselves and get better.

It has been a long road. Mostly because I am a gear head, but there have been other issues too.

If you simply want a one-off and have no plans to learn this stuff to support her, or do not have the budget to support her, then your plan to pay someone else is the only way to go.

On the other hand, if you have the money, the computer expertise, and the desire, then buckle up. Because I'm here to tell you, it's a hell of ride.

I love it.

For D-I-Y I think the bottom dollar amount you would have to spend, assuming you already have a solid PC, would be to buy...

and download a free copy of Mackie Tracktion (before 12/31/04).

Thanks

I listened to your girls and they seem to have potential!
My "child" is 17 years old and it's not about supporting her. I support her and am tring to figure out what the best way to go. She will have to work her way up if you know what I mean. I thought it would be good to have a cd to hand out to local radio and there has been been some interest from others to have a cd of her. I am very limited on what we can spend on this. I believe that I would use the homr recording more then just once but I figured that the more people that have connections hear her, the better it will be. There is a guy that was recommended to us, he has been nominated for a grammy. I have heard his work so I think that it would be worth it, but then I would love to have something here at home that we could mess around with and produce every now and then.. soooo as you can see.. I don't know what the best thing to do is. I'll think more on it and checkout some of your suggestions.
I really do appreciate your help!

Another Question

What is ASIO compatible audio interface? I have SoundMAX Digitial Audio.
So to use Mackie's Tracktion I would need to purchase a different sound card? That's it for now..
