been thinking of giving some guitar lessons in the future (just with friends first) and was wondering how to record the click in cubase. the reason for this being that i can give students example/licks etc in time

anyway of doing this?

I'll be interested in the response you get...

We just tried to do this and found it pretty frustrating. We were ultimately successful, but we had to change the metronome to use a midi pulse, send that to an external keyboard (after remapping the midi notes for the click so it would use suitable click sounds from the keyboard set), then record the audio output of the keyboard as it played the clicks from the Cubase metronome.

There's gotta be a better way!

I always create my own metronome track to get round this very problem. I take a clip of a high hat and snap it to beat one, copy and paste to beats one two three and four, make the first one a bit louder then copy and paste this section bar after bar...so yeah if anyone knows a better way please let me know too

If you leave the click in the "on" position when you export the audio mixdown, then it should export the click sound also. It will probably be in the mix at the same volume that you have it set to in the "metronome setup" panel.

Try it and see if it works. It has worked for me in the past. I'm using C4.
