Hi -

I know this subject has been addressed in other forums in various forms. However, I'm looking for a one-stop source for recommendations on vocal processors (a hardware unit). I've looked at the Antaraes AVP, TC Helicon Voiceone, Digitech vocalist workstation, and others. I haven't used a vocal processor yet, so it is hard for me to know what to look for - other than balanced in's which I was surprised to see the ACP did not have. I want to stay under $500, an I would like to be able to add harmonies, change gender/voice, and pitch correct when necessary. Otherwise, I would assume that some kind of footswitch capability would be nice to engage the harmonies on command, but I don't know. I would be using this unit in my studio only.

I know that no gear can make up for a bad vocal performance.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi - I'm just joining this site today, and noticed you are looking for something like I am. Have you found anything yet?
Yours truly, pianogal

Although it costs more than $500 new, maybe you can find a TC Helicon VoiceLive off Ebay for around that much $. Go to their site and listen to the demos...sweet!

I'm saving up for one as we speak...uh...type!!!

You'd be hard pressed to find a vocal processor for that price that will do all you are asking of it. Most of them for under $500 will only do simple 2 part harmonies and that's it. Throw in pitch correction and gender switching, and the price jumps through the roof. TC Helicon is the bench mark for these, but they are not cheap.
You could try to find a used (ebay) one for under $500, but it's tough. Good luck and welcome to the board.
