I'm not planning to buy this system but I thought I would copy and paste the link so that you guys could tell me whats wrong with it-meaning what are the shortcomings, especially regarding the PC specifications is there enough memory on this system...I heard windows xp is especially bad for recording..is this true?
what about the recording software..is it any good etc......I just want to have a clearer picture of the things I should look for when I set out to buy My virtual home studio.
any advice greatly appreciated.

Looks like a good deal; kinda overkill, I think. The WinXP not being good for recording is BS, whoever told you that's an ignorant moron.

that smells like a scam man.. 350 bucks won't even buy you the 2 gigs of ram that come with it, not to mention the software, and everything else. Unless i read it wrong. but that was not your question so regardting the parts, it looks ok. Personally, i like AMD cpu's but i'm not experienced enough to back that up. 2 gigs of ram would be nice but to get quality, that might cost you a few bucks that could be spent better elsewhere. 1 gig of ram is plenty for most audio projects. getting 2 hard drives is key as well. I use windows XP for recording and it works fine. I like it better than 2000 and way better than 98. the ability to plug and unplug usb devices is a real conveinance.

what about sonar as software?I heard cakewalk and adobe audition are easy to operate but others have made some men go out and get a sex operation and I dont want to spend my whole life studying manuals.
what minimum amount of ram is adequate?Which type of processor should I get?
Boy I ask a lot of questions.lol
