I've been searching around amazon for some books to better learn the physics behind acoustics. I came up with these but was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations elsewhere - mainly looking for controlling acoustics (in detail) for small to large sized studios/control rooms:

Master Handbook of Acoustics:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...=/ref=cm_lm_asin/104-1711670-2663133?v=glance

Fundamentals of Phsyical Acoustics:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...5/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/104-1711670-2663133

Newell's Recording Studio Design
Acoustic Absorbers and Diffusers: Theory, Design, and Application by Cox and D'Antonio
Acoustics by Beranek, Leo L.
Project Studios: A More Professional Approach by Newell, Philip
Recording Spaces, by Newell, Philip
Room Acoustics, Kuttruff (deeper than most)

I'd probably get the Master Handbook first, be aware that the 4th edition has several typo's so read with care - then Recording Studio Design (about $80), and if you still want to spend more the Cox/D'Antonio book on absorbers (about $160)

Not a whole book, and not steeped in physics, but it's free and will answer a lot of your questions about acoustic treatment:

Doesn't have anything to do with acoustics, but I think everybody should read Lenny Bruce's autobiography.

How To Talk Dirty And Influence People.
