recommendations for an analog preamp please?

For band recordings, eight channels XLR inputs, budget conscious but not too budget must be smooth, will pay to get it right

Analog preamp as opposed to...?

Probably best off getting a decent mixing board for the preamps. Allen & Heath are nice. Soundcraft, etc.

Eight channels of something better will set you back some cash.
