i am looking for a vacuum valve amplifier for my mid sixties telecaster fender guitar.i have heard fender original amplifiers like the twin i love them.
is it worth chasing up an old one?would maintaining the amplifier be a situation?are their any respectable similar amplifiers?
thanks for your responses.

If you like the Twin then I would get a Twin..I like the Fender '59 Bassman Reissue also

I'm pretty much set on getting a Twin, whenever I can afford it. I don't see much point in getting an older amp. Unlike guitars, classic amps don't have such a great appeal. Getting a used one from several years ago is probably the best bet. Keeping tube amps in working order usually only consists of replacing tubes when they blow, which isn't expensive or difficult.

Well, if you buy an old amp that's been recapped and retubed, not much work should be required. However, sometimes it may be difficult to find a vintage amp that's been properly taken care of. Therefore, I'd probably back up Iron's suggestion and get a recent model of a vintage amp. They're dependable, inexpensive, and sound just as good.

i could be wrong (i often am) but i was under the impression that vintage amps had simpler circuits and therefore give a better sound. i have a 1956 fender bassman 4x10 and it sounds awesome. also, if you get a vintage twin, the value will increase, so it's a good investment i say. if you could find one in good shape, i'd go for it...
