Hi i'm looking for an 8-ch AD converter via ADAT to expand my inputs on my soundcard.
I'd appreciate some recommendations, not something more expensive than, let's say... 300$
Thanks!!

behringer ada8000. on ebay you can get them new for around 170 so for an extra 40 you can add 16 more channels. Ive heard that for the money they are very good.

The only one I can think of in your budget is the ADA8000 already mentioned.

I have 4 of them that I use for live work (with a digital mixer) and, at 7 years old, they're still going strong. For line level inputs they're absolutely fine. For mics, the pre amps aren't great but are adequate--the one caveat being that, if you turn the gain up about about three-quarters, they get a bit noisy. In most normal use this isn't an issue--I'd owned the units for several years before I got into a situation where I noticed it at all (and this was a corporate job with a bunch of chefs doing cooking demos and one of the chefs had a really soft voice).

The only other one I can think of is the Focusrite OctoPre but that's around double your budget--darn nice unit but not cheap.

In my setup im running two ada 8000s with the rme hdspe raydat and not using the pres. I run my allen heath mix wiz 16 and use the pres on that. They are pretty silent when turned up. You can always look for better pres and still get a great sound. When upgrading converters the price goes up drastically. There are converters that are 24k and up for a single stereo channel.

thanks guys, i've heard about the ada8000, but just was looking for something else but can't find nothing for less than 600 bucks besides it...

Check out as many user reviews as possible on the behringers before counting them out. I've read really good reviews on them for the price bracket. And to add another 8 channels for around 200 bucks you really can't beat them. I know a lot of guys who dismiss behringer because they have a lot of budget gear. I won't use certain products but the converters are not bad and until you can afford upgrades they aren't too shabby. Also keep an eye open for something better used on eBay or Craigslist and you might find something for a good price. Good luck.
