I seek a recommendation for a MIDI interface. Nothing clever, just min. 2 in, min. 4 outs. For PC, Win 98. Just one that works all the time, every time....

I think that my options are as follows:

1. Steinberg USB-2-MIDI - 2 in 2 out, very new, who knows if it works?
2. Egosys Miditerminal 4140 - parallel connction 4 ins 4 outs
3. MOTU Pocket Express 2 in 4 out serial
4. Midiman BiPort 2x4s - 2 in 4 out, serial
5. Midiman Midisport 4x4 (USB)

Any suggestions / comments etc gratefully received

I have seen so much anti-USB stuff on the WWW - would anyone here actually recommend a USB interface?

Thanks

i am using the midiman midisport 2x2 usb unit.no problems so far.there is a driver fix that you will need to download if you get a unit thats been on the shelf for awhile(highly unlikely).ive heard the steinberg unit is good too.

I have the Opcode 4 in and 4 out with sync and midi time code. I never had a problem with it, used it with many different sequencing software. I am selling it, because I swithced over to recording audio only. I paid 260 dollars for it 1 1/2 yrs ago and will sell for 150.00 dollars. If you are interested email me at Ellebny@aol.com

I'm using a Roland UA100 and SC8850 through the USB port and have no problems at all. Of course, I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that it's been OK for me. You can listen to the recordings at http://leemuller.iuma.com. All done with midi through the USB. Even the audio (guitar) went through the USB.
