Has anyone ever used the CAD Trion 8000 who could describe the sound? I'm contemplating a tube condenser in the not-too-distant future, and I'm considering these:

SP T3
CAD Trion 8000
Karma K-58
ADK Generis GT-2
CAD M9

I'm looking for something for general vocal use---not brittle (but not dull) with no scooping in the mids and not sibilant. I'm leaning towards multi-pattern, but the M9 gets really good reviews, so it's on my "maybe" list. It should be passable on both male and female vocals.

Has anybody tried more than one mic out of this list? I've only found sporadic posts about them, with minimal detail except that they all "sound good on vocals". Doesn't make comparison very easy. The only one I've found any real details on is the CAD M9, which is described as "dark". Not sure if that's what I'm going for, but... maybe.

I owned the CAD M9 and it does a real nice job for $299.
Consider doing a search here on the SP T3 for comments from those who changed out the stock tube. You may want to find out what tube SP is using in the the new version of the T3.
I'm surprised the $499 RODE NTK isnt on your list as it is in the same price range of the T3. I tested it at SAM ASH in Chicago this past summer and I found it to be very detailed and warm. It is also one that is to benefit with a tube replacement.
FYI, I sold my CAD M9 and bought the sE Electronics Z5600A 9-pattern tube mic.
Good Luck!

Having tried those two, how do they compare?
