dear forum,
I am looking for reccomendations on how to upgrade my recording set up without spending too much.
My band demos our tracks ebfore we record them in studios, so that we can tweak song structure and isntrument overdubs.
We currently records in our tiny practice room. We use a lexicon Omega interface into our keyboard player's
Mac (not sure the spec) and Logic. We simultaneously record guitar and bass via sm57 mics placed at the amps and in the lexicon's mic sockets,
and electric drums through the lexicon jack. Then we do overdubs of keys/guitar through the mics.
This set up works okay but could be improved, for one the gear could be better, i'd like to know if anyone could reccomend a better interface or mics.
Secondly, I currently try to record extra overdubs at home using a small amp, the lexicon and cubase on my PC, but I cant get the lexicon working with Cubase, and i think to export all the files from Logic
and into Cubase will be a shit, as the only way i've heard is to do it with .wavs of each track, which will take ages
Thefore I'm looking for a reasonably budget mac that can handle 3 simultaneous recordings through the lexicon, and that I can take home to work on.
I've been looking at Mini Macs, as i could provide the monitor, mosue etc.
I'm very grateful for any reccomendations anyone can provide.
thanks,
David
