Reccomend me a board

I am tired of mixing with my eyes, so I am looking to get a 12 or 16 channel board to mix on. The pre's aren't a big deal for me, since this board will not be used much for tracking. I just want decent sweepable mid's on the EQ and good routing. Used is fine with me. I'd like to keep the budget under $500. Any suggestions?

Does it matter to you whether the board is analog or digital? Given a choice I'd go with an analog board, since digital boards tend to be a variation on the mixing with your eyes thing. Menus and all that.

There are some nice small analog boards out there, but your $500 budget is a bit limiting. Do you need 4 or 8 busses? How many fx sends would you like?

A Mackie 1604 VLZ PRO might work for you, as I believe it has a sweepable mid eq.
