Hello all,

I would like ideas for the most sensible software for my needs.
I use Protools rec software on a PC. I know,I know! But so far it works great for what I need done. I also have in my studio an M1 Korg keyboard. I would like a program that would allow me to play drum parts, bass parts and maybe horn parts on my keyboard and via midi record them into my protools sessions.
I am a songwriter so, I don't really approach things like an engineer. It needs to be relatively user friendly. I do need to worry about cost but, I wanted to determine what would do the job before I figure out how to pay for it. I have heard of reason, sampletank, and a few others. Some work with protools but not on a PC, others don't work well on Protools, if you're not interfaced with Venus when its in full rut with Jupiters house and all that kind of thing! Maybe I'm just a dummy. Anyway I would sure appreciate wisdom from the recording gods. Please help.

I believe Battery and Sampletank work with Pro Tools natively, in RTAS format. However, with the $99 Vst-to-RTAS adapter from fxpansion, you can use any VST plugin or VSTi instrument in Pro Tools... www.fxpansion.com

Thanks Charger for your help. Is one of these programs more user friendly than another. Sampletank,Reason,Battery or all the same in your opinion?

Well, Reason isn't really a drum sampler... It's a bit more complicated, but it's really an all-in-one studio with synths and efx and stuff. I don't think the built-in drum sampler is great, but it does have a true sampler built in that could work. However, Battery is a fantastic drum sampler: fairly easy to set up, easy to assign multiple drums to a single key and multiple samples of the same drum dynamically to the same pad, with a lot of other really cool features. I would say Battery is the best drum sampler of that group...

Go check out Hypersonic be stienbrg. It's a VSTi and pretty sweet. Theirs demos on their website.
