I just download, the demo version of reason, to see whats this software all about. When i try to run the program, i get a message saying "can not open rewire" I went to the support section on there, website i followed every instruction, on how to fix this problem, but its still not working. I'm running windows XP home Ed. Pentium 4@1.2mhz 128 ram, Can someone help me out with this problem?

Could you be having compatibility problems? I dug the following up from their manual support.

ReWire problems with Cubase
If you have Reason and Cubase VST installed on the same machine, please read the file "Read Me.txt" in the folder "ReWire Cubase Problems", which has been installed in the Reason program folder.

ReWire - Versions and Compatibility
When using Reason with ReWire, it is important to run the correct version of the ReWire "mixer application" (the audio sequencer application into which Reason's audio channels are streamed). Also, please note that some mixer applications support ReWire 2 (streaming of MIDI data from the mixer application to Reason) while other support ReWire 1 (audio streaming only).

Steinberg Cubase VST for Windows:
Version 5.0 r4 or later (ReWire 2).

Hey Babycham,

The link works but takes forever to open. It must be on the other side of the world. At any rate I copied the info that Beany was referring to for you. I hope it works.

Rewire 2 Problem Solution

Hi Pegasus, first of all, what a great, useful site!!!

In reply to Warpedtraveller's letter ("Can't Open Rewire2"), I had exactly the same problem, ie whenever I tried to open up Reason, it told me that Rewire2 was not installed. I think this was caused by me installing an old version of Rebirth on my PC, whichh then installed an older version of Rewire. I solved it by doing the following:

1. Use "Find File" to find "rewire"

2. Select the file called "ReWire.dll" from the list and delete it

3. Reinstall Reason
