Reason and Garageband Compatible?

I'm fairly new to recording and therefore appreciate the simplicity of Garageband as a recording tool. However, I understand it has its limitations, mostly in its lack of instruments and lack of mastering tools. (I am not concerned with loops.) Would Reason be a good add-on for me to get with Garageband? How compatible are they? Could I simply record a track in Garageband using an instrument in Reason or is it more difficult? Also, could I master the audio and MIDI tracks that I have recorded in Garageband using the extensive mastering tools that Propellerhead claims that Reason has?

Thanks for your help,
Matt

Google it for yourself, grasshopper.

The way Reason and Garageband would work together is thru a Propellerheads' protocol called 'ReWire' in which the transports of the two programs are locked together and the audio from Reason gets pumped into a track (or tracks) of Garageband.

I spent 20 minutes last night (unhappily) on the Apple web site trying to help, and eventually gave it up as a bad job.

Garageband 3 has added many capabilities and is the newest version on the market. If that's the one you have, read your manual, If not, go to a store that has it for sale and ask someone who uses it themself if the term 'ReWire' is familliar to them.
