I'm pretty new to Reaper and I'm stuck on how to set a point on a guitar track to re record from but listen to the track before I drop in.

So I want to be able to re record a guitar part say, I want to set a point where I'm going to re record from but be able to listen to a few bars ahead before I hit the point it re records

Any ideas?

Cheers

If you're talking about recording a selected area, just highlight whatever section of the work space that you want to record in, then right click on the record button. Choose Time selection auto punch, then you should record only in that designated area, but hear everything before and after!

Hopefully that solved your problem!

That's perfect thanks!

I had no idea how to do it and kept trying different things but never went and right clicked the record button before lol

Thanks for your help

The autopunch selection is also in the 'options' menu.

When I figured that one out I was happy :) "Time Selection" never seemed to be the right terminology (can't remember why I thought that now, as it's exactly what I wanted to do) but "Auto Punch Selected Items" always seemed like what I wanted but just couldn't setup properly.
