Reaper is splitting my WAV files

When recording a single track, Reaper will sometimes have that track split up. And they appear as different takes (they are actually the same take but it looks like 2 different takes next to each other). And also, there can sometimes be an audible "skip" or very fast "break" between the gap.

I've been through all the settings and didn't see anything except this:
Start new files every [1024] megabytes (approximate)

But these tracks are nowhere near that size, and disabling that option doesn't help either.
 
Do you perhaps have recording accidentally set in "loop mode"?
