Well, I'm preparing to buy my first condenser mic since I already have a few dynamic mics and would like to know which ones you recommend and why. I will be mostly recording vocals and acoustic guitar and mandolin with it. AKG?? SHURE?? MARSHALL?? RODE?? Give me your thoughts. Thanks.

Of the lower priced units, I have heard some high quality work tracked with:

1. Rode NT1
2. Audio Technica 3035
3. Studio Projects C1.

I know a lot of people rant about the MXL V67 but I've yet to hear a vocal through one that I'd send out.

I just bought my first condenser. It ended up being the NT1. I am recoding the exact same sources: acoustic guitar, mando and vocals.

On my guitar it's pretty good, Taylor 414K. Vocals, well I think I need to improve on my technique :). By far, it excells on my mando, a Tacoma M3. It really shines there.

I am going right into a BR-532 recoder and I am using a 9-volt battery for the power. It's nice and simple.

Rode NTK
Big FAT warm in Your face sound!! ( and under 5 bills);)
