When you set about to mixdown in cubase, you "write enable" whatever track you are wishing to secure ... are there preferences over which element should be the first to mix down?

Is this a mix question or a how does read and write work question?
Because if it's a how cubase automation works, you enable write to write the automation and read to read it. If only read is lit, then it makes it so you can accidentially write over what has been written to automation.
If it's a mix question, best ask in the mixing techniques forum.

It's a mixing with cubase question .... I just wrote all of the tracks into one mix. I can't remember how to set the left/right parameters so I can hear the song repeat when it ends.... my line continues scrolling across the empty page.

CTRL+left click area where locators are to set start. ALT+left click for end (or just drag the locators). Click the 'repeat' button on transport panel.

Easiest way to set the locators is to select all of the audio events you want to repeat and hit "p" on your keyboard. Enable loop and viola done.
A REALLY quick way of selecting everything to loop is apple/command+A then hit P. Done.

You're not bat shit crazy - you might have defined the biggest part of my problem. I have no idea what I'm talking about.... that's why I went looking for help on the internet. Fortunately for me, this site came highly recommended by Yahoo Search.
And aside from the fact that the vernacular of recording is not my native tongue, I am making progress on my project with the information that makes it passed my "I hope I don't have to learn to much governor valve."
Jimmy is proving himself to be a huge service and I think everyone should rep him just because.
This is the type of thing that loses me. How is that easier than ctrl-click?
and what's a loop? <---- don't answer that if I don't have to know until I get there.

Guitargodgt's way is easier. 'P' places the locators at the beginning and end of a selected event. CTRL+A (PC) will select them all. I have had issue on occasion exporting MP3's, where the file gets cut off at the end slightly, when locators are set too close to end of last played event. But that is another story.
The way I suggested would be for selecting a 'section' within your project that you want to repeat.
