My ribon mic (reslo) has two wires (+ & - I assume) that go from the bottom of the mic to the part that houses the ribbon. One wire (the blue one) has disconnected. I would just re-soulder it but it is so short, that im sure it would just break again.

What kind of wire would I use if I wanted to rewire the mic and add some slack. It appears to be a very thin copper wire. can I get this at a hardware store? is there anything I need to watch out for?

any advice would be awesome- thanks!

if it's inside the mic and has lasted this long it seems unlikely to break again in the near future, just strip it and solder it.

they have a variety of wires at radio shack, you should be able to find a match there.

I'd try the Shack. They should have any size wire you'd need for that.

I think I'd be concerned about heat form a soldering iron near the ribbon. I'm not a tech, but you may want to consult someone who'd know.

Just a thought!
