Can I load a bad C drive as a 'standard' drive just to retrieve data?

This thing was going down fast and I got most of the important stuff as it got worse and worse. I was hoping it might have a lighter load as a non-system drive(?) and spin long enough to get some more small files off of it.

yes you can do that. i've done it many times. i pulled my main drive today and connected it to another pc as a slave to fix one of my hair-brain screw ups. :D

if the drive contains important data, you're probably best off to have a pro recover the data.

that will cost you a bit!

you have to decide how important that data is... :(

usually just getting data off of the drive isnt too bad. recovering an operating system is not going to happen easily, its typically easier to format and start over.

No op. system stuff, just some plugin user presets I'd collected and a few Cake files I missed.
Thanks a lot guys.
