re Maestro Echoplex tape simulator

Greetings all,
I am interested in buying a Lexicon multi effects (perhaps MPX 1 or MX 400) to try and duplicate the Echoplex warmth, ambience and spaciousness, without the pain of dealing with tape, noise etc.

Any advice if these Lexicon models are capable of delivering a reasonably convincing Echoplex simulation would be greatly appreciated.

I was fortunate quite some time back to hear the gymnasium reverb in a PCM 70 and a little bit of reverb on a LXP 1.

I thought if the Lexicon reverbs are so sweet and warm perhaps the delays could be a suitable no hassle Echoplex replacement.
 
nothing does an echoplex like one...except a space echo!but oddly enough a good sub is a midiverb 4 tape delay. 75 bucks - great control.

I appreciate that nothing will be exact, but I am seeking a reasonable, no moving parts alternative, which can be purchased new. That is why I wondered about the Lexicon as the algorithms appear to be sweet, warm and very spacious sounding.

I also understand there are other factors involved - our ears and perceptions change with time, and exposure. From the sweetness of the PCM 70 and LXP 1 it appears sample rate is not a factor in this type of sound. I think its the convertor quality and algorithms.

In Australia the price of old tape echos has gone up to levels some would class as ridiculous, plus the fact we cannot buy parts and all the service personnel I knew are no longer working in the industry.
 
oh yeah...i know. same over here. i had a space echo in the summer from a client. cool tool but jesus. insane prices.

Actually some people at HC effects forum say they A/B compared the Roland
RE-201 with the Boss DD 20 and they are perfectly satisfied that the DD 20 replicates the RE-201 sound. So much so one ceased using the RE 201 and sold it.

People say the Line 6 Echo Park has good quality tape delay sound. Its tougher for people who prefer rack mount effects over stomp boxes.

i've used the rack version of their delay pedal...i think it's green? no idea what it's called, sorry...obviously a personal preference but i was unimpressed.

pedalwise i've used the akai head rush and found it pretty rad.
