What does THIS button do?
I kept the ebony ambassadors on the bottoms cuz they were still good, but I put pinstripes on the top of the toms, and then I have powerstroke 3's on each side of the kick, the outside is ebony with the hole cut in it (it came with a template) and then the snare is an emperor x on the top, with a hazy single ply remo on the bottom, not sure which head tho, it's been a while since i've changed that one....
I used my CAD pro-7 mic kit and threw the mics together with the OH's using the "3-stick rule" although I think my OH's are out of phase... I did it at like 7am :)
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Sound is for Suckers ???

p.s. this is on an origional ludwig vista lite.... I thought someone said Bonham said they sound like sh!t in the studio?

Re-heading can be really good. I must say I like the Evans G2's I headed my kit with SOOOO much. They're warmer than the remos you're using right now - not better, but different. I'm thinking about getting a new Kick head though, I saw a head that had insertable black foam rings for dampening...I wonder how they sound, so I'm thinking about trying it.

Do you have Guitar Center up in Calgary? They had a bass drum set up with that head on it to demo at the GC here. It sounds okay IMO but if you can, try it out first. I like the non-dampened sound that I am getting from keeping my heads un-muffled.

That sounds MUCH better than they did before (if I remember correctly).

I only have a couple things to add. Try cranking the snare up a bit and it will cut through a little better. Also add a little more 4-6khz to the bass drum. You could compress both to get more punch.

Other than that, it sounds damn fine!

I liked the subdued sound of the snare drum. The snares sound pretty loose. Is that a metal snare ? It would sound good with something made from wood. Also on the soft sections don't be afraid of buzz rolls with your left hand. It will definitely work on a piece like that.

sweet.. thanks guys. That is an acrylic snare (vista lites) the whole kit is acrylic.... I tuned the snare up a little bit.. I'm trying to get it to cut through the mix a little better on the overheads. It's sounding really good though and I am proud of all the things I have learned here. :) Thank you guys. I mean seriously, I am recording with a CAD mic kit, and acrylic drums which supposedly all of this stuff is supposed to sound horrible, but it doesn't.
