For those of you who heard and critiqued this for me, thanks.
I've been working on the drums since about 9:30 this morning.
Especially the fills that sounded so shitty. I've increased the compression to about 7:1 and the threshold is at about +3. I'm using it in "overeasy mode."
This seems to have helped some, and I've lowered the level a bit as well so they don't grab you as much. I took all of the reverb off
except for what was on the program to begin with.
I raised the bass guitar level a bit just to give it a little more presents. You could tell something was there before, but you really couldn't hear it.
Am I going about this fix for the drums in the correct manner? I'm probably not going to be able to get much more out of them than I already have, short of hiring a drummer and retracking the whole kit. And I can't afford that.
If you have any EQ suggestions for the toms I'd apreciate that too. Right now I'm not using any. I have a little high rolled up to give the cymbals and ride a little sparkle, but that's it.
