Right now I'm recording from the RCA out of my behringer eurodesk mixer to the eighth inch mic in jack on my sound card. I was wondering if getting a RCA to usb adapter would improve the sound that much for the 80 dollars its worth? thanks

It would depend on the converters. The connector isn't the deciding factor.

The converters and audio path in a stock soundcard (and soundblaster stuff) is just garbage. If the USB interface has better electronics, you will be better off. I'm sure the usb will be quieter.

If you are Considering spending $80 on a 1 or 2 channel USB Interface why not just spend the $100 and get a 4 channel PCI Interface with Proven High quality Converters like a EMU 0404...

Not only would you get better quality and not have the problems that are inherant to USB devices you will also have more Inputs and Outputs and with the EMU 0404 you also get DSP effects and 24 bit 96khz recording which you won"t get from a USB interface like the one you were looking at....

The only drawback to a PCI interface is that in the 5 to 10 years PCI slots will be totally phazed out but you will probably want to upgrade to a Better unit like a Firewire interface eventually......

Cheers
