RCA sk-46

Anyone have opinions of this mic?

I'm really looking for a 77DX ($$$$$ yeah I know) but hope someone might have info on the 46. I want to record a trumpet with it. I'm a pro jazz trumpeter and LOVE the sound of the vintage ribbons. wow.

not sure what your budget is but the Coles 4038 or the Royer 121 is about as good as I've ever heard on trumpet
 
I've recorded a bunch on both of those mics and love them as well. I just have a chance to get the sk-46 cheap and wondered if it's even worth it.

I do a lot of session work in the Boston area and have recorded on pretty much everything. By far my fav is the 77dx, followed closely by the Coles.

Well you probably wouldn't lost money on a mic like that if you didnt like it and had to sell it ... good luck
 
Thanks again.. I was thinking the same thing. Anyone know the value of this mic (sk-46)?

Looking forward to hearing thoughts on this ribbon.
