Hello.

Finnish metal expo. Caused me a hellish hungover.

I posted them guitartracks here a while back as a sorry attempt of a collaboration.:D

Anyways, a friend, the singer of Coprolith took the bait, and did the vocals and drums for the song.

I'm still expecting the tracks so I can do a decent mix of this thing, he sent me this to have a taste.

It's so bad it quite autenthically imitates some "vintage" black-metal.:D

Them lyrics and the name... Well our drummer misheard a song where the lyrics were "just like animals"... LOL:o

Better mix

Got the tracks.

I received the drums as a single stereo-wav, so the I could only do so much. But the song will rob you of your sleep anyhow!

That's just plain evil.

A shameless bump...:o

I came to think I'd like some comments of the Mastering?? Loudness, high and low-end clarity and that stuff..?????

:confused::confused:

Listening now.... I'll type as I listen:

Yow... sorry. My internet connection just bogged down...

It's a bit too loud. Strike that, it's much too loud. You'd get a better quality track if you didn't try to put all the levels into red line. Take it back to about -12dB and then get a professional mastering house to raise the levels for you.

Performance-wise, it's true to the genre, but it's also so much white noise.

Sorry I couldn't be more positive, but it does need some more work.

Dude, I'm sorry, but that's fucking awful. It's just a blob of ultra-squashed noise.

OK, OK.. I got that.:o

Unfortunately, I allready destroyed the tracks to make room for a new one, so, that's it.
The dude that drummed and screamed it is happy though.:D A true blackmetalist.

Better luck on my next one, I hope.:D

Yeah, posting black metal on an engineering-driven messageboard probably isn't the best idea, as low-fi production is actually what they're typically going for. This might actually be too good for black metal.

That said, as a fan of many genres of metal, if you're going for true black metal, the drums need to be much clickier, and everything should be a bit more scooped in the mids. IF you're going for standard black-metal. Vocals sound OK, I'd compress the shit out of 'em were it me.

I'll say it's fucking awful too, but with a smile and as a compliment.

It reminds me of Hate Eternal (minus the budget and necessary tracks to work with). Maybe listening to that will help on the next one (?).

Cool Jouni, I'll let you know when I get a chance to listen...gotta run for now....

I like this. The mix linked in the fifth post has much better clarity and dynamics than the mix from first post. I'm not sure which mix the other posters are referring to.

I am with XLR on this one...though it still seems to run together as Rokket suggested. I do enjoy heavy shit as much as the next guy...but I like to be able to discern the guitar, drum, and vox parts from one another. These all seem to bleed to gether in this mix. Unfortunately though, all I can offer at this point is my opinion, as I don't fully understand the mixing process yet... Hope it helps somewhat, fwiw...

-First post mix is demo from the singer, just tracks dumped togethr.

-Second post mix is my "overly"-squashed mix. (prolly referred by folks here)

-Fifth post is a mix without the final squashing. Prolly the best..

...

Yep - XLR's right - post #5 mix is much clearer and kik has more click to it...

Black Metal Rules! :D

this sounds like something i would have recorded in my garage 8 years ago lol. seriously, the recording is terrible. i don't really think the band is bad for the genre but i think the recording is beyond help. sorry, just my opinion.
