I’m assuming your working with a 800 x 600 screen. You might want to try larger resolutions and do abit of resizing that looks good in a couple of different sizes. I’m not a big fan of that follow the mouse stuff makes me want to get off the page quick.
Its easy to get around on, easy to read, I would stick to music pics unless this site is for your family as well.
Might want to get a good promo shot of the band in there.
Your band bio pic is dead.
Music .....might want to look into the legal aspects of posting a recorded cover song on line.
These are obviously recorded live with a one or two mic setup. You need to step up the quality of the music the 60hz hum has to go along with the stick count in. I would go down to your music store rent a mixer ,some mics, and a recording device .......BOSS has some new cheap stuff that sounds ok and if your going to use your computer M Audio makes a cheap 2ch USB mic pre for about $200.00. Remember …if you want people to take you serious you r going to have to step it up a notch
As a music suggestion I would also try practicing with a click track before you record to help solve some of the timing and meter issues.

Its a good start though and its easy to see you guys are on your way

Thanks man for the comments. We're only 13/14. When we get serious we'll definitely upgrade our recording geat, but for now we just recorded so people could hear us. Anyone else?

Resize the photos on the individual bio pages. The resolution is 72dpi but they are sized somewhere in the 21x21 range. This makes for slow loading even with a fast cable connection. Try to get the overall file size somewhere under 100 K. Also take a look around the net for some site design ideas. There are literally thousands of bands out there with cool sites. Try looking at CD baby and following the site links on the individual band pages. It would also be great to actually have your music on your site, either as an mp3 or streaming audio. Soundclick is ok but it's a less polished look and you end up sending the viewer to another site. You might check with your web host to see what your options are.

Do you know how to do this with Yahoo geocities? That would be really cool, except we don't know how to do it. thanks

Cheap way
1)Set up NoWhereRadio.com account (people don't like to "register" with soundclick)
2)Set links to song to open in new window by adding target="_blank" at the end of the link code

Better way
1)Set up NoWhereRadio.com account
2)Pay small fee to NoWhereRadio.com for "deep linking" account, so that you can link directly within the site and not have to open another window. Also, this keeps the storage and traffic on NoWhere's site (Geocities won't allow all that traffic)

Anyone found doing the 'cheap' way will be permanently banned from NWR (direct linking to tracks is not allowed), and prosecuted for violation of agreement.

Linking to the page that the tracks are on however, is perfectly legal.

Also note, to post cover tracks, you MUST have written proof of rights available.

This is exactly what I meant. I just worded it poorly.

Cheers,
Christopher...a satisfied customer of the paid direct-link service on NWR :D

I know you said rate the site, but I'm gonna be difficult and rate the music. I tried looking at it from all perspectives. Here's whatI came up with:

1. Fellow musician's perspective: Good drumming and guitar playing. Singing could mix in better, but from what I could hear it sounded good. If there's any bass, you can't hear it. Try lining the bass directly into a mixer, then hook the mixer into the computer's sound card.

2. Fellow drummer's perspective: Like I said, good drumming, but try placing some drum mics (not too expensive if you get the right ones) around the set and lining them into a mixer and so on and so forth.

3. Former guitar player's perspective: Awesome. mixed in perfectly. No complaints from me (then again I was never really that good).

Overall, pretty good, but could be better quality, even with the cheapest equipment money can buy.

For example, pull up this page (it is rap, because I couldn't find any good sounding rock on soundclick):

http://www.soundclick.com/therealist

Now if you don't like rap, that's ok. All you're listening for is how professional it sounds. From my understanding, that was done with Cool Edt Pro and a microphone that came with the computer.

Thanks Joker for the comments. Yea what it's missing is better recorded drums. I had no idea abour recording from behind the drummer and what not, so i just held it next to the computer and hoped it would pick up the drums from across the room. But thanks for your comments. Oh, and there is no Bass becuase his amp was broken. Thanks again :)

The 'Adopt a highway' text that follows the cursor around is annoying...

I would also try and use a bit more color and/or imagery. The site is easy to navigate but it isn't much for looks. The text on the bio page would be better if it were separated in paragraphs.
